Domain
The first things you need are a DOMAIN NAME and a DOMAIN ZONE. Together they form the address that opens your website when typed into the address bar.
Choosing a domain name is not easy; it is creative and therefore interesting. First, decide the purpose of the website for which the domain is being registered. For a personal website, a so-called name domain matching the owner's first name and/or surname is a good option.
When choosing a domain name for a company's corporate website, consider whether it is more useful to include the company name or suggest its field of activity.
The ideal domain name
Ideally, a domain name includes both the company name and a hint about its activities. If a company with an established brand launches an online presence, a domain matching that brand is the best choice.
Using terms or keywords characteristic of the company's business in corporate domain names is effective. For example, a renovation company could logically choose euro-remont.eu. Other examples are tur4you.eu or kuda.eu for a travel company.
A domain name should be as short and memorable as possible, sound pleasant and not evoke negative emotions.
Choosing a domain zone
Choosing the right domain zone helps orient the client correctly.
By placing your website in .COM, .NET, .ORG or other general-purpose domain zones, you primarily address users in English-speaking countries, where international domain zones are most popular.
Choosing a national domain zone, such as .ES for Spain, .LV for Latvia or .EU for Europe, indicates both where the domain owner comes from and the territory whose users you primarily want to reach.
Where and how can you register a domain?
To find out whether the name you need is available in .LV, who administers it if it is taken, and other information about the domain, use the service Whois.
You can conveniently purchase a domain in this and other zones through the hosting company where you plan to host your future website. If you have not yet chosen hosting but want to check the availability of a domain name you have thought of, use the checking service here:
